Hymn

O Bread of Angels
Gift of Finest Wheat

Or:

Good Shepherd, true Bread,
Jesus, have mercy on us,
nourish and defend us,
lead us to the eternal goods,
in the land of the living.

Sion praise your Savior,
your guide, your shepherd,
with hymns and songs.
Be ardent as you can,
he is above all praise,
there is no song worthy of him.
Good Shepherd . . .

Living Bread which gives life:
this is the theme of your song,
the object of your praise.
It was truly given
to the Twelve gathered
for a fraternal and sacred meal.
Good Shepherd . . .

May full and resounding praise,
serene and noble joy,
arise from the spirit.
Behold the Bread of angels,
bread of pilgrims,
true Bread of the children,
not to be given to dogs.
Good Shepherd . . .

In symbols was announced,
in Isaac given over to death,
in the Lamb of the Passover,
in the manna given to our fathers.
Good Shepherd . . .

p. 319

You who know and can do all things,
who nourish us on earth,
lead us your heirs
to the feast of heaven,
to the joy of the saints.
Good Shepherd . . .

Let us pray.
All powerful and merciful God, guide us to the possession of eternal joy, so that this humble flock, your faithful, may securely arrive there with you, where Christ, its Shepherd, has preceded. Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
