Novena to Jesus the Divine Master

Antiphon: One only is our Master, Christ Jesus. O come let us adore him.

1. I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No follower of mine shall ever walk in darkness; no, he shall possess the light of life.
Antiphon.

2. You address me as Teacher and Lord, and fittingly enough, for that is what I am; for I have given you an example: as I have done, so you must do.
Antiphon.

3. Avoid being called teachers. Only one is your teacher: the Messiah.
Antiphon.

4. A student is not above his teacher, but every student, when he has finished his studies, will be on a par with his teacher.
Antiphon.

5. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who lives in me and I in him shall produce abundantly.
Antiphon.

6. I am the bread of life; if anyone eats this bread, he shall live forever; the bread I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.
Antiphon.

7. Go into the whole world and proclaim the Good News to all creation. The one who believes in it and accepts it will be saved.
Antiphon.

Antiphon for the Magnificat:
O Master, we know that you are truthful, and teach the way of God in truth. Alleluia

Magnificat
(Luke 1:46–55)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed;
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.

p. 303

He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever. Glory.

Antiphon: O Master . . .

Let us pray.
God, our Father, in your love you sent your only Son to be our Teacher and Lord. May we ponder his teaching to better understand divine wisdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
