℣. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
℟. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
Jesus takes the cross upon his shoulders. Jesus Master invites us: “If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
I want to follow you, O Divine Master, by mortifying my passions and by accepting my daily cross.
Draw me to yourself, O Lord. The road is narrow, but it leads to heaven. On the way, I will lean on you, my guide and my comfort.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.
Have mercy on us.
Holy Mother, etc.
Oh, how sad and sore distressed
Was that Mother highly blest
Of the sole-begotten one!
O quam tristis et afflicta
Fuit illa benedicta
Mater unigeniti!
