Let us recite a heartfelt act of sorrow, envisioning the scene of Calvary: Jesus Crucified about to die, and the Most Holy Virgin, who contemplates her divine Son as he thinks of us sinners and prays for humanity.
Let us ask St. Paul the grace to make the Way of the Cross well. St. Paul is the great preacher of Jesus Crucified. In one of his letters he writes: “I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor 2:2). May he stir up those same feelings in us!
And let us invoke the assistance of Mary, the sorrowful Mother. May she help us feel sorrow for sin and, above all, instill in us the resolve to live a holy life.
℣. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
℟. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
Let us pray.
Lord, look upon your family. For their sake our Lord Jesus Christ unhesitatingly suffered betrayal into the hands of the wicked and underwent the torment of the cross. Who lives and reigns with you forever and ever. Amen.
