The pamphlet with the text of the “Way of Humanity” was sent by Father Alberione to all the members of the Pauline Family, as a “Christmas gift” on Christmas eve 1947.
It’s a prayer that follows the model of the “Way of the Cross.” But, while the “Way of the Cross” limits itself to the passion and death of the Savior, the “Way of Humanity” proposed by Father Alberione has a cosmic dimension. The destiny of human beings—their “Way”—begins with creation and natural revelation, moves through the supernatural revelation of the Bible, culminates in the Incarnation of Christ, continues in the life of the Church, and concludes with the parousia and eternal life.
It is not only a prayer, therefore, but a theological proposal, based on the doctrine of Jesus Master, Way, Truth, and Life. In fact, each of the thirty sections into which the “Way of Humanity” is subdivided contains a theological expression (Truth), an invocation to help assimilate the expression in daily life (Way), and a prayer (Life).
To each section were added the corresponding biblical references to facilitate their use during the Visit and personal meditation.
