BLESSED JAMES ALBERIONE
Priest and Founder of the Pauline Family
Feast
Fr James Alberione was born on 4 April 1884 in San Lorenzo di Fossano (Italy). On the night of passage between the 19th and the 20th centuries, during a long Eucharistic Adoration, still a young seminarian, he lived through an intense spiritual experience. In this experience, he clearly perceived his future mission: to live and to give to the world Jesus Christ, Way, Truth and Life, while using for such purpose all the fastest and most effective means that human progress may offer for communication among persons. To achieve this ideal, he founded the “Pauline Family”, made up of five Religious Congregations, four Institutes of Consecrated Seculars and a Pious Association of Lay Persons. His earthly existence saw its close on 26 November 1971, after he was visited by Pope Paul VI. He was proclaimed Blessed on 27th April 2003 by St John Paul II.
