1. O Father’s sole-begotten Word,
O Light coequal to the Light,
With Father Source and self-same Light,
Upon us all shed radiance bright.
2. The chaos at the dawn of time
You severed, and the darkness deep,
The universe to recombine
With order wondrous and complete.
3. In body formed from earthly clay
You made the soul in splendor shine,
Partaker in the life divine,
For glory destined beyond time.
4. O Father’s Word, you did resound
When prophets told to fallen man
The coming of God’s very Son
According to salvation’s plan.
5. The prophecies you then fulfilled:
Because you loved mankind so much,
You came upon our lowly earth,
Took form that we could see and touch.
6. Our everlasting Truth, Way, Life
By you we’re led, by you we live.
To Father, you, and Paraclete
May all men praise and glory give. Amen.
