℣. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
℟. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
With false compassion, “they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, to carry the cross” of Jesus.
I too am bound to cooperate in the redemption, completing with my sufferings the passion of Jesus Christ.
Accept me, O good Master, as a small victim. Preserve us all from sin, save sinners from hell, and free the souls in purgatory from their sufferings.
Have mercy on us, O Lord.
Have mercy on us.
Holy Mother, etc.
Can the human heart refrain
From partaking in her pain,
In that Mother’s pain untold?
Quis non posset contristari,
Christi Matrem contemplari,
Dolentem cum Filio?
