The Central Commission for the Biblical Year, together with the Gruppo Editoriale San Paolo and the Department of Biblical Theology of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, proposes the 2nd international webinar dedicated to the “prayerful reading” of the Word: after the Jewish perspective explored in-depth last 26 November, focused on the Fathers of the Church. They too, in fact, used a hermeneutic criterion for the reading of Scripture, already used in the Hellenistic and rabbinic ambit, highlighting the profound unity between the Old and New Testaments, and giving rise to some questions:
• Can the exegesis of the Fathers have a meaning for contemporary exegesis?
• What does it mean that Jesus Christ is the fulfilment of the Old Testament figures?
