The Community of Calicut celebrated the centenary of the foundation of the Pauline Family on Tuesday, 19 August 2014, in the Holy Redeemer Church, Marikunnu, with great devotion and due solemnity. The thanksgiving Eucharist was presided over by Dr Varghese Chakalakkal, Bishop of Calicut. Bishop Maxwell Noronha, Bishop Emeritus, together with some 20 priests joined in the concelebration. Bishop Chakkalackal paid glowing tributes to the Society of St Paul, its Founder Blessed James Alberione and its specific charism in the Church. He recalled with a sense of gratitude the Media apostolate that the Society of St Paul carries out in his diocese and throughout the world.
At the conclusion of the liturgical celebrations, everyone present was cordially invited for a centenary dinner in the parish hall. In all, there were about 250 guests including our staff, collaborators and cooperators in the apostolate. While Fr Philip Muthukulam welcomed the gathering, Br Antony Pottanani presented a copy each of the centenary edition of New Community Bible to Bishop Chakkalackal and to the Vicar General of the diocese after which the Bishop himself distributed a copy each of the NCB together with a centenary memento to all present. “It was indeed a family gathering, a moment of communion and fellowship,” said many to the Superior, Fr Joseph Thulumpanmakkal and to the members of the community. Congratulations to the Superior and to the community. GALLERIA FOTO
