Dream came true for Anthony Swamy, the community of Pune and the India-Nigeria Province of the Society of St Paul when Br. Antony Swamy was ordained deacon by His Lordship Rt Rev Thomas Dabre, bishop of Pune, during the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration at 11 am on 28th October, 2012 in the community Chapel, Pune. A well-attended liturgy was meticulously planned and executed by the members of the community. Fr Thomas M J, Superior of the community welcomed the gathering and Fr Wilson T, master of ceremonies ensured that everything was in order.
Bishop Dabre, in his homily, appreciated the candidate for choosing a lifestyle different from that of the world and for embracing the values of the Kingdom of God instead. “People are hungry for more wealth, more power and more prestige in every way possible”, he said, “but here is a man who wants to be a servant.”
The gracious presence of the members from the Provincialate and from the communities of Mumbai and Bangalore; superiors, rectors and members of different religious communities, and a good number of well-wishers and co-operators added much joy to the Diaconate Ordination. The celebration came to an end with a felicitation program and a fellowship meal. Congratulations and best wishes Deacon Anthony Swamy!
